With Daniel's adoption being finalized before the holidays, I was able to submit his paperwork for US birth certificate. It arrived last week! It was so exciting to hold it in my hands and realize-yup, this tot is here to stay!
Next on the list is to get a US Passport. Dave and I headed into our local post office to get it taken care for Daniel only to be told the staff only accepts the paperwork by appointment only and that they were booked up for 2.5 months. My goodness! So, I came home and looked up online where else we could submit Daniel's passport paperwork and came up with an appointment 45 minutes away from our house for 7:45 this morning.
We were up and out by 7AM, Passport paperwork submitted before 8 and then off to school for Daniel and work for the parents.
Once Daniel's passport arrives in 4-6 weeks, we can finally apply for a social security number for him. Then, once that arrives (unless I do that in person down in Denver) WE WILL BE OFFICIALLY DONE WITH PAPER-CHASING!

Cousins
Daniel met his cousin Jaylee over the Christmas holiday. She is a year and a half older and lives on the East Coast.
They went out for pizza.
They took turns wheeling each other around in the high-chair-on-wheels. (High chair on wheels? Seriously? It needs a wheel lock on it)
They begged anyone with a wallet for quarters and hit up the gumball machines.
They watched movies together.
They Skyped with out of town family.
They went to the gym family days and hit up the bounce house and slides.
Thanks for coming to visit, Jaylee! We can't wait until the next time!
Christmas Round Up
After our trip to Texas and a disastrous flight home (Daniel was that child that required everyone within 10 rows of us to have earplugs), we arrived home in Colorado to my parents, my youngest sister and her daughter visiting and my two other siblings that live here full time. Christmas was just a few days away and I couldn't wait to share my favorite holiday with a sweet little 20 month old and my family.
Daniel met his Aunt Becky and Cousin Jaylee for the first time as soon as we rolled into our driveway. Jaylee and Daniel had such a great time playing together with the thousands of toys in the house.
Within a day of being home, Daniel started coughing and soon, another croup attack reared its ugly head. We spend most of Christmas Eve day in the ER. Daniel was a champ getting breathing treatments and having to be on oxygen. At one point, he was chilling in his hospital bed, watching a little Micky Mouse Clubhouse and relaxing. A nurse walked in and saw him kicking back like his...
He just laughed and said, "is this kid really sick?" Fortunately, after a few hours of monitoring and some drugs, we were back home just in time for Santa to come. Daniel didn't really get the concept of Santa yet, but his Momma loved telling him stories about what was to come.
Santa came bearing tons of presents for the entire family.

Daniel got a chair from Pottery Barn. (Notice the dark in the windows-yes, it was still dark when we got up. Ugh)
After Dave, Daniel and I had our family Christmas morning, my parents, brother, sisters and niece came over for Brunch and family time. Sisters!
A few months ago, we had a sibling photo taken for the parents. We Skyped with my brother and his wife when we gave the framed photo to the parents. The cousins and the entire family had a wonderful Christmas!
