Hospital Round Two

Well, after my hopeful post about Daniel getting better last week, we ended up in the hospital again. Poor little man now had pneumonia. His fever was all of the place and he started coughing a horrible hacking sound. Our pediatrician recommended bypassing our local hospital and heading down to one of the city hospitals at lower elevation.

We were there for about 24 hours and Daniel was doing much better. They gave him an IV Antibiotic to quickly kill whatever was making him sick. His fever got back under control and he had no problems whatsoever with breathing and his oxygen levels. I'm crossing my fingers once again for a turn for the better. This momma needs it, I'm exhausted!

In light of some good news, we got our court date for finalization. In less than one month, Daniel will officially be a US citizen.

October 20

Yesterday was a day of milestones.

October 20, 2010 was the day Dave and I first saw Daniel's photo. It was our referral day. It's amazing to me that an entire year has gone by with us knowing our little boy. I can clearly remember the fear that Dave and I both experienced the night after our referral phone call. While we were overjoyed to "meet" Daniel, we were so scared to finally become parents to this little boy so far away. We had been praying for him for so long and praying for our hearts to be prepared to be parents. Then, when it actually happened, it seemed too soon. It took a few days for us to realize everything would be ok. We never had a doubt that it wouldn't be the case, but it was just so scary.
October 20. 2011 marked Daniel's Three Month home anniversary (I call it a Daniversary). My, how our lives have changed in three short months. My facebook status from yesterday says it all,
"Three months ago today, Daniel invaded our lives. I barely remember how wonderful a full night of sleep was and what a clean house looks like. My windows will now always have little hand prints on them and I'll forever be tripping over toys in my living room. But, seeing his smile light up each morning is worth every extra bottle of Windex and laundry ddetergent I now have to buy."
While we had so much to celebrate this week, Daniel has been pretty sick. We spent Tues night in the ER and the little man ended up getting admitted to the hospital later that night.
He had a nasty bout of croup. He couldn't breathe and was wheezing so badly. A day in the hospital with some great staff and meds helped him turn the corner and he's on the mend to recovery.

I'm currently using my brother's car while Dave has ours and is away for a few days on a business trip. Since we don't have our usual toys right at Daniels side to occupy him, he's been doing a lot of staring out the window while we're in the car.

This afternoon, after I picked him up at play group, I turned around to check on him (since he was being unusually quiet) and saw this!
Big man found these somewhere in the car and was rocking some serious old school shades in the back seat!
